The Research and Scholarship (R&S) Entity Category has been designed as a simple and scalable way for Identity Providers to release minimal amounts of required personal data (or attributes) to Service Providers serving the research and scholarship community.

Valid services include collaborative tools and services such as wikis, blogs, and project and grant management tools that require some personal information about users to work effectively. The R&S Entity Category is not intended for access to licensed content such as e-journals.

For Identity Providers - please confirm the following:*

My organization agrees to release only required attributes to Service Providers in accordance with the privacy policy governed by my province or territory for the purposes of supporting research and scholarship interaction, collaboration, or management.My organization will release, for a significant subset of our user population, all required attributes (shared user identifier, person name, email address) to all R&S Service Providers, either automatically or subject to user consent or notification, without administrative involvement by any party.

For Service Providers - please confirm the following:*

My service does not profit from or redistribute licensed materials, i.e. access to licensed content such as e-journals.My service will not use attributes for purposes that fall outside of the service definition as presented at the time of registration to users and referred to in metadata.
